Future Columnists
Why would you make the perfect columnist? That's the application to be a columnist. Send us an email with your name, email address, age, location (state/province, country), what topics you'd like to write about, and an essay telling us what makes you the perfect columnist. Here are some tips for your application:
- Use perfect grammar and spelling in your application because these skills are required for the job.
- When writing your essay, make sure you're going over your reasons for wanting to write about a certain topic in your essay. For example, if you want to write about animals, we need to know why!
- Make sure that you give an email address that you check at least once a week. Offers to new columnists are only good for a week once made.
- Include your age and location to help find the perfect fit within the site, though know that we welcome columnists of ALL ages and from ALL backgrounds. We have had successful columnists as young as 12 and columnists from all continents!
Remember, columnists can be anyone--no professional experience required, all that is required is an interest in contributing to the community, learning some awesome skills, and meeting some great people from all around the world!

Your experience is real, genuine experience. While our site is volunteer driven when you write for PurplePJs, you're writing for a true webzine. You can put this experience on your resume, as well as on college and job applications. Additionally, if you're in high school or college/university and are required to complete volunteer hours, our administrative staff will work with you and your school to get the time and effort you put into PurplePJs counted towards those hours. And of course, we will write letters of reference for all of our staff members. Our columnists are important to us, and we want to nurture the skills of all columnists in any way we can.
